PLAYEDBY FAVORITES 2020
A new year is already rolling on wheels hat vinyl wise, meaning it’s proper time to peak up some of our favorites from 2020.
As plenty of dazzling releases were baked last year, it would be pointless to order all favorites in any ways, nevertheless it is fair enough to rewind chronologically on these absolute tracks that have been shaping this new decade.
2020 started with our personal favorite of the year, which is highlighting Thomas Melchior’s finest grooves through ‘Love’, launching his latest label My King Is Light in early January last year.

Heard while unreleased at SW18 back in 2015, being played by Rhadoo who dropped it again a few years later at SW25, this one has truly been expected for a long time.
Formerly considered to be released on [a:rpia:r], this timeless beauty eventually found its very own home introducing Melchior’s imprint, one classical that is our favorite pick of 2020.
Also released into Winter season, Alien Communication is featuring accurate rhythms with ‘Consciousness’ as well as Jovonn on Dutch label Body’N’Deep, besides a more acidic melodiousness from Martyné with ‘ TP Project’ on Traffic.

February has been highlighting these mesmerizing flows from Ricardo Villalobos through People People release on Discobar, while Cassy was coming back on vinyl a couple years following her latest EP, most probably the best way together with Tobias on Pressure Traxx.

Another kind of productiveness was brought through these never happened before situations that occurred during first lockdowns back in March, however some light rose up by virtue of Afriqua’s debuts on Raresh imprint Metereze with his long awaited ‘Moonspa’, whenever Priku was amazingly teaming up with Vlad Dinu to mold its tenth Atipic issue.

Delivering its sixth release by mid-May featuring Diogo, Eliptic is striking it all with a genuinely cerebralish ‘Disko Boy’ Rhadoo remix, which is all likewise for Ion Ludwig’s and its reinterpretation of ‘Fluffy Robot’ on Daro Recordings.
This is on German label Blank State that Klein & Melchner have been settling their second collaboration together, introducing a ‘Critical Mas’ ep ultimately for the bags, while Goofy was drafting beautifully darkish ideas with Lizz sophisticated grooves [BLACKTOONEY02].

Launching this peculiar Summer by celebrating their 125th piece of collection, PERLON is marking as well Disordered Rhythm Metronomy very first appearance born from Edward and Ricardo Villalobos musical collaboration, in which their ‘Vormlock’ creation is indubitably to be highlighted in this yearly pick.
Another must-have which is ‘Definition’ from Lizz, released this time on Priku’s unique Atipic Lab [ATIPICLAB009], as well as John Dimas launch of Synq imprint through ‘Rave Wave’ or Tripmastaz very first issue of the year back in June 2020 on his eponym label Tripmastaz [TMZ12006].

Jay Tripwire modularized tunes are signing the return of American label Euphoria 5 years following its previous release, meticulously stretched out by SIT with this delightful remix of ‘H3misphere’.
Back in the European side, Pager Records is featuring this standing out ‘ETA’ from Eco Set One – Markus Sommer, Martin Muller and Felix Kluge – on top of Ease Up George rolling it up on new label Cwtch [CWTCH001].

As gatherings were mostly not in a danceful manner, Alci is back on Meander with ‘Can’t Dance’, which one surely took its right place into [MEANDER029], whenever Zendid guys have been releasing under their new alias project David Lunch on Body Parts Vinyl, from which ’30km Away’ is remarkably overhanging their four-tracker selection [BPV026].
Mid-Summer also brought the first release of our new sub-label, Underplay. inaugurated by Scenicroot, a collaboration from Sublee & Aurelian Murariu with ‘Scenical EP’.

As a various artist affair, the Londonish Spaghetti Club is part of the newborn bangers with a special mention for that ‘Titled’ one from Phil Evans, as well as Trippsy beginnings on Twig with ‘Fishing Chair’ amongst his ‘Saga31’ release, whilst Alex Falconer made a handsome couple bombs on Belgian imprint The Void Project.

Freshly back at it from Japan to deliver his latest Sundance [SND13], Fumiya Tanaka is spreading his most gorgeous flows and Dub revisits on « Dance Tonight », just like Turkish party-makers from Fake Society who are featuring Camelia by September with ‘High Beams’ on their fifth piece, which one is (obviously) blissfully remixed by Cristi Cons [FS005].
Sepp has been blooming his truly enrapturing melodies by Tooney Luning as Sylvester [TOONEYLUNES004], thoroughly spotlighting his joyful edits.

One year coming after its latest release, Russian imprint Mayak is back with Moldovan artist Dubfound on ‘Gandhi’s Nightingale’, who is masterfully remixed by Meander’s head Dewalta [MAYAK014].
Ibiza-based MTM series have also been showing some real productiveness vinyl wise, especially by featuring Lorenzo Chiabotti’s remix from Topper on « Attabeat » [MORETHANMUSIC002].
As an absolutely qualitative launch, Overdubs is featuring an incredibly powerful remix from Dubtil on « Ovd#001 » fulfilled with darkened vibes, while Gene On Earth has been delivering his second release on his own imprint this year, in which « Prawn Galaxy » was particularly heartfelt [LD006].

Another ageless record for Amphia closing it all in December, getting to the point of its twentieth piece of art into its collection, here being excellently shaped by Amorf – Cristi Cons, Mischa Blanos & Vlad Caia – into an unmissable jewel without any doubt.
